How cursive m joins other letters

The m exits from the third downstroke at the baseline, so it connects like other baseline letters. Slow down on the first two humps so the exit stays on the line.

Common mistakes with cursive m

Unequal humps

If one hump is wider than the others, the m looks lopsided. Try to keep each downstroke the same distance apart.

Pointed tops

Round the tops of the humps. Pointed tops make m look like a series of v's.

Cursive m vs n: Cursive m and n use the same hump. The n has one, and the m has two. Count the downstrokes: three for m, two for n. See cursive N →
