How to write family in cursive by hand
- 1Write the top of the capital F and its stem in one stroke, ending on the baseline.
- 2Lift and draw the crossbar at the midline, from left to right. Let it run on into the a, so the F joins the rest of the word.
- 3Write a, m, i and l with baseline joins. Make the m humps even and the l loop tall. Leave the i undotted.
- 4Finish with the y: a small cup, then a loop below the baseline that crosses back up at the line.
- 5Go back and dot the i.

Questions about family in cursive
Where does the crossbar go on a cursive F?
At the midline. It is drawn after the stem and, in joined writing, it carries on into the next letter, as it does into the a in family.
How do you write the y at the end of family?
Write a small cup like a u, then pull the second stroke down below the baseline into a loop and bring it back up to cross at the line.
When do you dot the i in family?
After the y is finished. Lift the pen once, add the dot above the i, and the word is done.
Is there a printable Family cursive worksheet?
Yes. Make a free practice sheet for Family with the worksheet generator: it prints the word on writing lines to trace and then copy.
