About Cursive Atlas
Cursive Atlas is a free website for learning, practicing and creating cursive handwriting. It exists because most cursive pages online show a picture of the alphabet and little else. Learners need to see where the pen starts, how each letter ends and how it joins the next one.
What you will find here
- Every letter A–Z with an animated stroke order, steps, common mistakes and an on-screen tracing pad.
- A beginner guide that puts the letters in a sensible learning order.
- Printable worksheets made from the same letter shapes, so what you trace matches what you learn.
- Text tools: a cursive generator, a translator and a name practice generator.
How the letters are made
The letter shapes are drawn for this site as single-line paths following traditional American school cursive. Showing one line instead of a font outline makes the pen path, stroke order and joins visible. Capital letters in particular vary between school programs such as Zaner-Bloser, D'Nealian and Palmer, so where your teacher's model differs, follow the model.
What this site is not
It is not a replacement for a teacher or a handwriting curriculum, and the cursive-style text in the generator is made of special Unicode characters or decorative fonts rather than real handwriting. Each tool explains what it produces.
Corrections and feedback
If a letter shape looks wrong or an explanation is unclear, please tell us through the contact page. Specific reports, such as the letter, the step and what you expected, are the easiest to act on.
