Common mistakes with cursive x
Crossing too high or too low
The two strokes should cross at about the middle of the letter. If they cross too high, the x looks like a tilted t.
Crossing it as you go
Add the crossing stroke after the word. Stopping mid-word breaks the connection and slows you down.
Cursive x vs r: A rushed cursive x can look like an r. The crossing stroke is what makes it an x, so do not skip it. See cursive R →
Cursive X questions
Why is cursive x written in two strokes?
The first stroke runs with the word and the second stroke crosses it, just as a t is crossed or an i is dotted. That keeps the pen moving through the word.
